Self-introduction
Prof. Zhang got a bachelor degree from Beijing Jiaotong University, China in 1987, a master degree and a doctoral degree from Hiroshima University, Japan in 1993 and 1996, respectively. Since he got his doctoral degree, he experienced working as a research associate at Hiroshima University, a consultant in the urban and transportation field in Tokyo and a research fellow in the Netherlands. His research fields include urban and regional planning, transportation planning, traffic engineering, environment and energy policies, tourism policy, and health policy in the contexts of both developed and developing countries. He has developed various methodologies (surveys, modeling, policy evaluation, and planning, etc.) and applied them to analyze various issues related to the above fields from an interdisciplinary perspective, especially focusing on human behavior analysis and systematic approaches. In recent years, he has been especially promoting the life-oriented approach for cross-sectoral policies. He has published more than 420 refereed academic papers (more than 80 SCI/SSCI papers) in journals such as Transportation Research Part B, Transportation Research Part D, Journal of Transport Geography, Transportation, Transportmetrica, Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, Energy Policy, Energy, and Environment and Planning B. He further published more than 300 non-refereed papers. He has been serving as a reviewer for more than 40 SCI/SSCI journals and as an editorial board member or an associate editor for more than 10 internationally well-recognized journals. He was the chair of the IATBR Eric I. Pas Prize Selection Committee in 2013. He was the former editor-in-chief of the journal “Asian Transport Studies (ATS)” of EASTS (Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies), which is the largest transportation association in the Asian and Pacific region, between 2011 and 2016. Currently, he’s one of five board members of the International Association for Travel Behaviour Research (IATBR).

  1. 2019/11/01, Transport and Energy Research: A Behavioral Perspective, Transport and Energy Research deals with the transport issues associated with energy from a behavioral perspective in an interdisciplinary and systematic way. Existing transport and energy research has focused on technologies and energy efficiency; however, more efficient technologies do not necessarily lead to energy reduction. Unfortunately, very limited behavioral research can be found in the literature. This book covers major transport modes and major countries. It emphasizes the importance of researching the behaviors of not only transport and energy service users, but also transport and energy service providers, policy makers, organizations, company managers, and other stakeholders who are involved in and/or affected by transport and energy policies. It not only overviews the history of relevant research and presents new developments but also extensively discusses future research issues. Various findings are summarized for reducing energy consumption from a behavioral perspective. This book provides readers with behavioral insights into more effective policymaking. Behavioral interventions are recommended as a key policy instrument for reducing energy consumption in a sustainable way. It provides policy makers with comprehensive insights into making more effective policies over the whole process of policymaking. The book can serve as a handbook for researchers and a textbook for graduate students in the fields of transport, energy, environment, planning, public policy, and behavioral studies and so on., Elsevier, 2019, 11, Scholarly Book, Single work, English, Junyi Zhang, 9780128159651, 416
