ナノメートルサイズのクラスター・粒子状物質を合成し、空気やガスの中で浮遊、堆積させて、有用な構造・組成をもつ薄膜、粒子、およびそれらの複合物を創製する研究を行っています。また、空気・ガス中に浮遊する粒子状物質が,さまざまな時空間スケールの環境・対象に与える影響の評価と抑止に関わる技術を研究してきました。これまで取り組んできた主な研究課題は、以下のとおりです。  ○環境大気中の浮遊粒子状物質による地域汚染のモデリング・解析  ○環境大気中の微量ガスからの光化学反応による二次粒子生成(ガス-粒子転換)  ○工場・作業場環境での粉塵による産業用機械の稼働阻害を抑制する技術  ○居室環境におけるたばこ煙粒子などのダストの輸送挙動の解明と制御  ○半導体部品などの精密加工を行う製造装置内の環境において資源・エネルギーの負荷の原因となるマイクロコンタミネーション(微小スケールの汚染)の、解明・モニタリング・防止技術  ○生体呼吸器への工業ナノ粒子の吸入取り込み、沈着、生体影響の評価試験技術  ○液体や気体の汚染物質の分解を促進するナノスケール光触媒薄膜・粒子材料や、センシングを可能とするデバイスの創製
