Self-introduction
There are many materials around us that show interesting physical properties, such as metals that pass electrical current, insulators that do not, and materials that changes their crystal structure and the electrical resistance becomes zero with changing temperature. This is because the "electrons" play an important role. These electrons are so small that they can only understood in the world of quantum mechanics, but in fact, by using synchrotron radiation, it is possible to observe the electronic structure (energy and momentum) of the electrons inside of materials. We have performed spectroscopic experiments by using synchrotron radiation at Hiroshima Synchrotron Radiation Center (HiSOR), Hiroshima University, on strongly correlated electronic materials, which show strong electron-electron correlation, to directly observe the electronic state and elucidate intriguing physical properties in materials. We believe that this would lead to obtain guidelines to make a new material with exotic physical properties in future.
