Depletion of hepatic stellate cells reduces hepatic steatosis, Akihiro Kawahara, Akihiro Kawahara1, Keishi Kanno1, Yuji Uwada1, Sayaka Yonezawa1, Tomoki Kobayashi1, Masanori Ito1, Digestive Disease week, 2022/05/21, Without Invitation, English, 20220521/San Diego, Hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) are the main source of extracellular matrix proteins in hepatic fibrogenesis and produce versatile cytokines, growth factors, and morphogenetic proteins. Among these, several factors are known to promote hepatocyte lipid accumulation. Therefore, HSCs could be a potentially efficient therapeutic target for Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) by preventing liver steatosis and fibrosis. This study aims at investigating the influence of HSC depletion on the development of hepatic steatosis and fibrosis in a murine NASH model. Additionally, we investigated the influence of HSCs on lipid accumulation in hepatocytes in in vitro cell culture models of hepatic steatosis., preprint
