Self-introduction
I conduct research in maternal and child health, adolescent pregnancy, respectful care, and midwifery education from the perspectives of midwifery and public health. My main research interests focus on adolescent pregnancy and midwifery care in low- and middle-income countries, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. Using primarily qualitative research methods, I explore the experiences of adolescent girls and young women who go through pregnancy and childbirth, as well as those of their families, communities, and midwives. Through this work, I aim to understand how care reaches young women in their everyday lives and what kinds of support are needed. I am also interested in midwifery care more broadly in low- and middle-income countries. Through collaboration with international researchers and local stakeholders, I hope to contribute to the realization of better care for mothers and children. My work seeks to explore sustainable and context-sensitive forms of care that value local cultures, relationships, and community-based resources.
