自己紹介
沿岸域は、古くから様々な人間活動が行われており、現在の地球上の人口の約44%が岸から150 ㎞以内の沿岸域に住んでいます。一方、沿岸域は、嵐や台風などによる高波、高潮、洪水、氾濫や海底での地震、火山噴火、斜面崩壊による津波など、多くの災害に常にさらされています。それぞれの災害について、その原因となる各地球システム要素(大気、水圏、岩石圏、生物圏)の物理過程と要素間の相互作用に関する理解なしでは災害の再現、評価、予測は不可能になります。 CHESS Labの研究は、大気‧波浪‧海洋の数値モデルを用い、これらの沿岸域災害の物理過程と要素間の相互作用の理解、再現、予測に重点を当てています。また、地球温暖化に伴う台風活動の変化、海面上昇などのような長期的な災害環境の変化が沿岸域にもたらす影響の評価についても研究を進めています。 また、アジア発展途上地域における環境的に持続可能な発展を目指し、多くの留学生とともに、水資源管理、地域気候モデリングによる再生可能エネルギー資源の評価と資源の将来変化の推定によるエネルギー供給戦略に関する研究を行っています。 CHESS Labは、沿岸災害物過程理解や災害の緩和、水資源管理、再生可能エネルギー資源に強い関心を持つ自発的で熱心な学生を待っています。
