1985年広島大学大学院工学研究科博士課程前期修了.同年広島大学工学部助手.1994年同助教授を経て2002年より同大学大学院工学研究科教授.現在,同大学大学院先進理工系科学研究科教授.工学博士.計測自動制御学会学術奨励賞(1986),論文賞(2002, 2008),バイオメカニズム学会論文賞(1990),日本義肢装具学会論文賞(2000),日本医科械器学会論文賞(2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2013),日本機械学会ロボティクス・メカトロニクス部門学術業績賞(2004),IEEE Robotics & Automation Society The K. S. Fu Memorial Best Transactions Paper Award(2004)などを受賞.人間とロボットの運動制御,生体信号解析,ニューラルネット,ヒューマン・マシンシステムなどの研究に従事.
