However, the coating films have poor abrasion resistance. In this study, structurally colored coating films with excellent abrasion resistance were prepared by cathodic EPD method using monodispersed SiO2 particles, black substances and metal cations.

Inumaru, 16th Meeting of the Japanese Sol-Gel Society, 2018/08/07, Without Invitation, The Japanese Sol-Gel Society, Kansai University, LaF3:Eu3+ nanoparticles (NPs) were successfully prepared as fluorescent NPs via hydrothermal process. Composites formed with these NPs and mesoporous silica (MPS) were prepared to maintain high specific surface area of NPs. Fluorescent properties of composites, especially excitation wavelength, were investigated in detail. Modification of NPs in the composites by organic ligands enables emission of red fluorescence from the composites via near-UV excitation.

Tokudome, Yasuaki Tokudome, 16th Meeting of The Japanese Sol-Gel Society, 2018/08/07, Without Invitation, The Japanese Sol-Gel Society, Kansai University, In this study, we have demonstrated the facile preparation of Zn-Ga LDH nanocrystals as precursors for GaN:ZnO. We have investigated the reaction conditions including the quantities of reagents, and the reaction temperature to obtain the LDH with smaller crystallite size. Liquid phase synthesis of precursor LDH provides GaN:ZnO nanocrystals with uniformity in its atomic composition of Zn and Ga in each position of the samples.

Conventionally, metal oxynitrides are prepared under harmful NH3 flow at high temperatures. Therefore, development of a preparation procedure without using NH3 is desired. We have explored solid state compounds which can be utilized as nitriding agents. In this work, preparation of CaTaO2N by using calcium cyanamide is investigated in detail.
  22. Creation of Advanced Functional Materials Based on Inorganic Particles as Element-Blocks, Kiyofumi Katagiri, The Ceramic Society of Japan The 31st Fall Meeting, 2018/09/05, With Invitation, The Ceramic Society of Japan, Nagoya Institute of Technology, Inorganic particles possess a number of features which are advantageous for applications in the various fields. In this study, novel inorganic particle-based hybrid materials have been employed as element-blocks for development of novel functional materials. We have firstly developed hybrids formed with lipid-coated photon upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) incorporating C70 fullerene. These nanohybrids were exploited as photosensitizers for photodynamic therapy by near infrared irradiation. Next, structural color coatings are prepared by an electrophoretic deposition (EPD) of SiO2 and carbon black (CB) particles. The arrangement of particle array is controlled by varying the deposition condition. The angular dependence of the structural color is drastically changed with the arrangement of particle array. In addition, robust structurally colored coating films with high abrasion resistance were prepared by the cathodic EPD method using monodispersed SiO2 particles, black substances and Mg2+ ions.

Recently, we have developed a preparation process of GaN:ZnO by using Zn-Ga layered double hydroxide as a precursor and urea as a nitriding agent. In this study, we have attempted preparation of GaN:ZnO by using various nitriding agents, such as melamine and C3N4. GaN:ZnO obtained thus was characterized by several techniques, including 71Ga solid-state NMR spectroscopy.
  28. Development of Novel Synthetic Processes of Metal Oxycyanamide (RE2O2CN2 (RE = Y, La)) Phosphors by Using Urea, K. Kawanishi, R. Okada, K. Katagiri, K. Inumaru, The Ceramic Society of Japan Annual Meeting 2019, 2019/03/26, Without Invitation, The Ceramic Society of Japan, Kogakuin University, RE2O2CN2:Eu3+ (RE = Y, La) phosphors were prepared from the mixture of RE(OH)3:Eu3+ and urea after calcination under N2 flow. Through the optimization of reaction conditions, including content of urea and heat-treatment temperature, single-phase La2O2CN2:Eu3+ and Y2O2CN2:Eu3+ could be obtained without any impurities. The photoluminescence properties of obtained La2O2CN2:Eu3+ and Y2O2CN2:Eu3+ were investigated in detail.
