Self-introduction
I am currently working in the Center for Special Needs Education and Practice, the Institute for Diversity and Inclusion. Prior to joining the Institute I was employed at a university in Fremantle, Western Australia for 18 years. I have taught and published widely in the field of inclusive education, assistive technology, service-learning, working with teacher assistants, and supporting children with ASD. I have a wide range of interests around special and inclusive education including the use of assistive technology in regular school settings; effective inclusive practices; the preparedness and attitudes of beginning teachers to accommodate students with diverse abilities in their classrooms; and alternative and augmentative communication methods. I occasionally consult with UNESCO and the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) and collaborate with many international partners to promote inclusive practice.
